Six voting service and polling centers officially open across El Paso County

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Voting service and polling centers officially opened Monday in El Paso County for the upcoming November general election.

Ballots can be dropped off at these centers in person, and residents can register to vote or update their registration. There are a total of six locations across El Paso County.

Colorado voters have several ways they can cast their ballots, including dropping a ballot off or casting a vote by mail. For those voting in person, El Paso County officials say they will be opening a lot of polling stations ahead of election day.

"Leading up to Election Day, we're going to be opening up, in three different phases, a total of 31 in-person voting centers, which is the most we've had for any election in the history of El Paso County," Steve Schleiker, El Paso County Clerk and Recorder, said. "There's a reason why in-person vote centers are extremely important. One is you could register here in the state of Colorado all the way up to Election Day. So if you're not registered, you can become registered."

The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder's Office wants to remind those voting by mail to make sure they get their ballots in early. Postmarks don't count; ballots need to be in the hands of the Clerk and Recorder's Office by 7 p.m. on election night.
